Life is a ride everyone experiences. You can either have an intense roller coaster at some times or a gentle kiddie ride. You can either have ups or downs. What do you have? This is my life. -me
Ring Ring. The sound that is dreaded every time someone goes out of the house. My mother answered the phone.
“Hello?”
I sat there wondering why my brother would be calling. I couldn’t hear anything he was saying.
“I’m doing pretty good, what’s wrong?” Her voice instantly changed so drastically it was chilling.
“What?! Are you alright?! What happened?!”
My brother had just gotten into an accident. I could only make half of the story as my mother explained to him he needed to call the cops. I just had this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. He called a few more times after that explaining to my mother what had happened, while I just got bits and pieces of the story. An hour passed and we went to go pick him up from his work, which he walked to after getting his car towed. The car ride was silent for the most part but my mother explained what happened.
“He hit ice. His car almost flipped over but that was prevented when another car hit him. Everyone is okay, it seems the cars took the most damage.”
We end up finding him at his work as he got in the car a bit frustrated. The police officer he had to deal with was an asshole. He tried explaining what happened and the cop insisted he was driving too fast. My brother insisted he was under the speed limit which was true but with the snow and ice on the roads it still might of been too fast. He went on explaining the scene, and how other cars were sliding like crazy. The only different was they weren’t getting into an accident and when he mentioned that to the cop the cop replied.
“Well, they’re going too fast too. However, you’re the one that crashed so I’m dealing with you instead of trying to stop them from driving so quickly.”
My brother was irritated by the whole situation and his mouth almost got him arrested but he was able to go through with no problem and walk to his work to get picked up later. He vented about how cops are completely useless and rude. I honestly wonder why people even call the cops if they’re gonna just shove the fact they’re “authority” in your face. Especially, when you’re not being hostile at first. It’s they’re pointless attacks on you plus the adrenaline that throws your emotions in high gear, they should realize that and only take force when they need to not just because they can.
My brother is okay. I’m so glad. I’m thankful he’s alive and the crash wasn’t worse then what it could have been.
